Reasons For Hope

This past Sunday, we celebrated the Sixth Sunday of Easter. The second reading at Mass was from 1 Peter 3:15-18, and it included these words:

“Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope…”

It is hard to read these words and not be challenged to reflect on the explanation we might give to anyone who would ask us for a reason for our hope, especially in these times in which we find ourselves. And yet, this is the invitation that HeartSpeak offers to you in this week’s blog post:

What is the explanation you have for anyone who might ask you for a reason for your hope?

HeartSpeak welcomes your responses and reflections in the comments section below.

I always try to have six perspectives before I speak…mindful of our call to Faith, Hope and Love. A reflective discipline (inspired by The Book of Joy, Tutu & Dalai Lama) inviting an individual, a group to consider multiple angles—self, other, community, tradition, Divine, and future impact. It prevents reactivity and opens contemplative spaciousness. Best practice: Embrace six perspectives to HOPE when an individual or group is stuck in a single narrative, or on a single way.  Hope opens us to the possible and gives perspective to each circumstance
