Continuing to Reflect on Living in Uncertain Times…

We continue to welcome responses to the questions posed in the May issue of Heart to Heart on the theme of “Living in Uncertain Times.” Those questions were: “What do the issue’s reflections, prayers, and songs stir in you? What helps you to live in uncertain times?” We are grateful to Kathy Collongues of Hillsboro, MO, who shares her responses for this week’s HeartSpeak blog post. We hope that others will return to the May Heart to Heart and then share your responses and reflections with us!

“The quotes chosen from those of us who are living now and those who have gone before us all show that throughout history we share in those very human feelings of ‘fear, doubt, anger, hurry, anxiety’ (crs.org). We are not the first nor will we be the last to experience the very uneasy feeling of ‘not knowing.’ Each of those prayerful words of wisdom presents a doorway that invites us to enter together into a ‘peace the world cannot give.’ The two songs speak of Connection and Community. We are not asked to ‘go it alone.’ Together, we grow in Faith and Trust that God will be (and always IS, even in the present moment) true to God’s Promises.

I am always comforted by a quote from Frederick Douglass who said: ‘I do not despair of this country…the fiat of the Almighty, Let there be Light, has not yet spent its force.’”
