A Lenten Message from Pope Leo XIV

In his message for Lent 2026, titled “Listening and Fasting: Lent as a Time of Conversion,” Pope Leo urged us to place God at the center of our lives by fasting from hurtful, divisive language and engaging in deeper, active listening to God’s word and the needs of others. His message focused on transforming relationships and fostering, hope, peace, and community.

HeartSpeak encourages prayer and reflection on his words and openness to how we might put his words into action this Lent. The text of his message is available at this link.

In the comment section below, we welcome your thoughts as you read and ponder Pope Leo’s words. How do his words touch you? To what actions and responses do his words call you during this Lenten season?

Transforming relationships and fostering, hope, peace, and community requires focus on beginnings and endings. Discernment in each season, is this what God is calling me to now? Sometimes routine keeps us from seeing with new eyes. Maybe the question is am I seeing with new eyes, hearing with new ears, discerning with a new heart today in hope, peace and in the community I serve. Is this day routine or a new manifestation of Serviam?
